Background
As an interior designer, I have pursued creating long-serving,
beautiful, and celebrated designs by making the most out of quality materials.
However, during this process, I have witnessed many situations where large amounts of waste is created.
This has led me to question the Japanese ‘scrap & build’
building culture where structures are simply demolished instead of being renovated or repurposed.
With this in mind, I have come to recognize the critical importance of questioning society in ways that only a designer could.
I have launched wa/ter to do just that.
We aspire to nurture awareness of environmental issues through using the power of design
to give objects that have once lost their value a second life.
We wish to create long-lasting and loved products that are not easily swayed by popular trends.
